The Monroe Township Mother’s Club and the Monroe Township Recreation Department will sponsor a Halloween Parade, Costume Contest and Baking Contest beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 27 at the Monroe Township Community Center, Monmouth Road. The event will take place rain or shine.
Lineup and registration are set for 10:30 a.m. Judging of costumes will take place at 10:45 a.m. Entrants arriving after 10:45 a.m. will not be judged but are welcome to participate in the parade and to partake of refreshments. The parade is set for 11 a.m.
Divisions for the costume competition are: baby buggy (youngsters in carriages and strollers); toddlers (walkers up to 2 years old); preschool (3- and 4-year-olds); kindergarten; first and second grades; third and fourth grades; fifth grade and up; floats; and all other wheels.
There will be 10 best-costume trophies per division. Costumes may be pretty, funny, scary, characters, animals, original, etc.
A best-in-show costume trophy also will be awarded.
First-, second- and third-place winners will be named in the float competition.
There also will be trophies for the first- , second- and third-place winners in the Haunted Gingerbread House Baking Contest.
Refreshments will be served.
