E.B. AARP plans meeting, party, trip

  • The next general meeting of AARP East Brunswick Chapter No. 4855 will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 16 at the East Brunswick Public Library, Jean Walling Civic Center.

    A Drive Through the Christmas Story, an outdoor display of 10 life-size Bible scenes including live characters, animals, holiday music and scripture, will be presented from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Mondays-Fridays and 5-9:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, Nov. 26-Dec. 5, on the circular grounds of Sayre Woods Bible Church, Route 9 south, Old Bridge.

    A special tape and cassette player will enable participants to go on a guided tour of the Christmas story from the convenience of their cars.

    Admission is free of charge. Free-will donations of canned food for the Old Bridge Food Bank will be accepted.

    E.B. hair salon to host

    HopeCuts fund-raiser

    Tekniques Salon, Loehmanns Plaza, Route 18, East Brunswick, will host a HopeCuts fund-raiser from noon to 4 p.m. on Nov. 14 to benefit the City of Hope.

    Salon hair stylists will donate their time and offer women’s, men’s and children’s haircuts at discounted prices.

    All proceeds will benefit research, treatment and education programs in cancer, HIV, AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses at the City of Hope National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute, Duarte, Calif.
