  • The township of East Brunswick will sponsor a community blood drive from 3-8 p.m. on Nov. 18 at the East Brunswick Public Library, Jean Walling Civic Center.
  • Residents are asked to donate blood and save a life. The donation process lasts only about 10 minutes.

    St. Stanislaus Kostka Rosary Altar Society is holding a fresh pierogi sale for the holidays.

    Many different pierogi varieties, including cheese, cheese and potato, sauerkraut, mushroom and more, are available.

    Organic farming

    will be topic at meeting

    The Lawrence Brook Watershed Partnership Inc. will hold a meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 16 at Milltown Senior Center, Violet Terrace.

    Guest speaker Mike Azzara, outreach coordinator, Northeast Organic Farming Association of New Jersey, will offer a presentation titled “Restoring Health Through Organic Farming.”

    Area teen takes part in

    young leaders seminar

    Sarah Reddan of Monroe, a senior at St. John Vianney Regional High School, Holmdel, recently participated in the six-day National Young Leaders Conference (NYLC) in Washington, D.C. NYLC is a leadership development program for high school students who have demonstrated leadership potential and scholastic merit. The Monroe teen is one of approximately 400 students from across the country selected to attend the conference.

    The theme of the event was “The Leaders of Tomorrow Meeting the Leaders of Today.” Reddan interacted with a variety of personnel who operate within the three branches of government, the news media and the international community.

    To complement the schedule of special meetings and briefings, Reddan also participated in a number of leadership skill-building activities and simulations. In one role-play activity titled “If I Were President,” students acted as the president and cabinet members responding to an international crisis. Students also took part in a program titled “Testing the Constitution,” in which they examined actual Supreme Court cases.

    The conference culminated with the Model Congress, in which the scholars assumed the roles of U.S. representatives, debating, amending and voting on proposed mock legislation.

    rabies clinic on Nov. 20

    The township of East Brunswick will hold a free rabies clinic from 1-4 p.m. on Nov. 20 at the Public Works Garage, 4 Harts Lane, East Brunswick.

    The state mandates that all dogs and cats must be vaccinated to ensure a safer environment.
