Purchase a paver
The Bordentown Veterans Memorial Committee has announced an extension in time for ordering a paver for the plaza area of the proposed new memorial on Farnsworth Avenue. For those who prefer it, a lay-away plan can be used in which the buyer pays a fixed amount each month until the total amount of $150 is paid.

Memorial trees
The Bordentown Shade Tree Committee has established a Memorial Tree Program. Memorial Tree Program brochures can be picked up at App’s Hardware Store, 377 Farnsworth Ave. and By the Book at U & I Gifts, 150 Farnsworth Ave.

Summer camp
Brochures for the Bordentown Community Education/Recreation summer playground/camp program have been mailed to all residents of Bordentown City and Township. Those who did not receive one should call 298-9123 ext. 1200 or 1202.
The playground program will be held July 5-28. The fee is $40 (includes $10 registration fee) for residents and $60 per week plus a $10 registration fee for non-residents. Late registrations will be accepted until May 31 with a $10 late charge.
Camps offered include art, basketball, cheerleading, computers, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, music, pre-kindergarten, science, tennis and theater.
Class reunion
The Class of 1980 of Florence Township Memorial High School will hold its 20-year reunion Nov. 24. Organizers are trying to locate classmates. Those with information may contact Cammie Ridgway at (856) 427-9496 or e-mail Cammie at www.classmates.com.
Cub Scouts

Iris festival
The fourth annual Iris Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday on Farnsworth Avenue, Bordentown. Activities will include an iris growers’ competition, live music, a sidewalk art show and art auction, and dedication of the Frank Carr Memorial Iris Garden at 1 p.m. at Flynn Park on the Hilltop.
A selection of Frank Carr hybrid iris plants will be available for purchase.
Fine arts exhibit
A fine arts exhibit and art auction will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in conjunction with the Iris Festival in Bordentown City. Over 75 painters, sculptors, photographers, galleries and non-profit arts organizations will be exhibiting along Farnsworth Avenue and Walnut Street. Most artwork is not iris-related. The exhibit and iris festival are free and are sponsored by the Downtown Bordentown Association.

Ham dinner
A buffet-style ham dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. June 3 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 339 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown. Tickets are $8.50 for adults, $3 for children ages 6-12, children under 6, free. Take-outs are $9.50.
The menu includes ham, potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, apple sauce, Harvard beets, dessert and beverage. For tickets, call 298-2781 or 298-0158.
Golf clinic
A free golf clinic conducted by PGA pro Michael Lanzetta will be held June 3 at Mansfield Golf, 707 Route 68, Columbus. For information, call 298-2300.
School carnival
Chesterfield Elementary School will hold its annual carnival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 3, rain or shine. Activities include games for all ages, a children’s gift auction, fire engine and hay rides, a flea market, book and bake sales, a fire truck splashdown and hospitality and bike raffles.
A small petting zoo will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Picnic-style foods will be available also. For information, call Julie Maddocks, 259-3691.
Widows & Widowers
The Widows & Widowers of Burlington County will hold its monthly social and dance June 4 at McGrath Hall, Hornberger Avenue, Roebling. Light refreshments will be served and music will be provided by a DJ from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Admission is $4 for members and $5 for guests.

Bordentown seniors
The Bordentown Township Senior Citizens Club will meet June 5 at the Bordentown Township Senior Citizens Community Center. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the meeting starts at 1 p.m. Light refreshments will be served and bingo follows the meeting. All residents of the township age 55 and older are invited to join the club and attend meetings.
A covered dish will be held at 6:30 p.m. June 3 and a birthday party is planned for 6:30 p.m. June 17. Computer training will be held at 1 p.m. June 14 and 28.
Dance motivation/exercise classes are held from 11 a.m. to noon every Friday.
Library programs
The youth services department of the Bordentown branch of the Burlington County Library will offer a Father’s Day craft program for kids age 7-12 at 3:45 p.m. June 7.
The library will kick off its summer reading program, “Good Books Make Time Fly,” at 2 p.m. June 20 with sign-ups, entertainment and refreshments for all ages.

Book signing
Author Marylou Kelly Streznewski will sign copies of her book, “Gifted Grownups, The Mixed Blessings of Extraordinary Potential,” at 7:30 p.m. June 8 at By the Book at U&I Gift Shop, 150 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown.
Ethnic festival
St. Nicholas Catholic Byzantine Church will hold its annual ethnic festival from noon to 6 p.m. June 11 at the St. Nicholas picnic grove, Norman Avenue, Roebling. The European festival will feature live entertainment by “The Music Box Band,” as well as traditional foods, homemade cakes and pastries.

Golf outing
The New Jersey 4-H Development Fund will sponsor the fifth annual 4-H Golf Outing June 26 at Olde York Country Club, Columbus. Events start at 11 a.m. with registration and tee-off is at 1 p.m. The event concludes at 7 p.m. with dinner and awards.
This tax-deductible event will help to increase awareness and raise funds to benefit the 4-H Youth Development Program in New Jersey. For further information, call Patty Gares, (908) 782-5011, ext. 15.
Theater trip
The Friends of St. Mary’s School, Bordentown, will sponsor a bus trip to the Millennium Theatre in Lancaster, Pa. June 29 to see the show “Noah.” The bus will leave at 10 a.m. from St. Mary’s. Lunch will be at noon at Shady Maple and the show starts at 3:30 p.m.

Volunteers needed
CONTACT of Burlington County, a 24-hour telephone helpline, needs volunteer telephone counselors. No experience is necessary, but volunteers must be 18 or older. Morning training sessions began this month and an evening session will be offered in the spring.
After completing training, volunteers will have the skills necessary to assist people who depend on CONTACT’s Helpline services. Those interested call CONTACT of Burlington County at (856) 234-8888, (609) 871-4700 or (609) 267-8500.
GED program
Bordentown Community Education/Recreation offers a free preparation program for those interested in obtaining their GED diploma. Classes are designed to allow students to attend two nights per week, study at their own pace and take the GED test when they are prepared.
The GED test is administered in both English and Spanish. Instruction focuses on review and development needs in test areas of English, math, science and social studies.

Gift cards
The Bordentown Veterans Memorial Committee offers “gift cards” representing one paver with a family name or the name of the person for whom it is a gift. Each paver costs $150 and buyers don’t have to have a veteran or a resident of Bordentown City to purchase one.

The William MacFarland High School Class of 1955 will hold its 45th class reunion on Sept. 16, 2000, at Charley’s Other Brother, Mount Holly. Parents Anonymous
A Parents Anonymous support group meets from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1285 Hornberger Ave., Roebling.
Parents Anonymous of New Jersey Inc. is a private, non-profit organization that provides free, community based support groups for parents who are having problems with their children and feel they would benefit from meeting weekly with other parents for help and support. Parents who attend may remain anonymous.
Volunteers needed
Good listeners are needed to help people who are mourning or anticipating the loss of a pet through death or any other separation. Training is provided. Call 1-800-404-PETS and leave a name, address and phone number.
Jazzercise
Ongoing Jazzercise classes taught by Kathy Along are held at 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 9 a.m. Saturdays at the Roebling Fire Company No. 3 at 69 Main St. in Roebling. Participants may join at any time.
Ms. Along’s classes are part of the Healthy Lifestyles Fitness Select Network. Participants who belong to Personal Choice, Keystone, and AmeriHealth managed care insurers receive a discount and are eligible for 50 percent reimbursement.
