Union pickets West Windsor site

More than 100 union protesters picketed at Esplanade at Bear Creek.

WEST WINDSOR — More than 100 union protesters Friday picketed the construction site of Esplanade at Bear Creek, an assisted-living facility on Old Trenton Road, claiming the developer is cheating workers of hundreds of thousands of dollars in wages.
Ridgeley Hutchinson, business representative for Princeton Carpenter’s Local 781, claimed that Kay Construction, the Cherry Hill-based developer of the 86-unit development, hired subcontractors for the job who regularly violate state prevailing wage laws.
Mr. Hutchinson said Mega Construction Corp., a carpentry subcontractor hired by Kay, has a history of cheating workers of a fair wage and falsifying wage records.
Spokespeople for Kay Construction and Mega Construction Corp. could not be reached for comment Friday.
