Dr. Alphonse P. Palmieri, M.D., died Monday, June 5, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Dr. Palmieri was chief of pediatrics at St. Francis Medical Center.
Born in Trenton, he lived in Lawrenceville for 33 years.
He was a graduate of Trenton Catholic High School, Lebanon Valley College and Georgetown University Medical School.
After completing his internship at St. Francis Hospital in 1954, he served as a lieutenant in the Navy Medical Corps at the Norfolk Naval Base. After his active duty in the Navy, Dr. Palmieri completed his residency in pediatrics in 1959 at the District of Columbia General Hospital, Washington, D.C. He practiced pediatrics in the Trenton area for the past 41 years.
He was a fellow and diplomat of the American Academy of Pedialries and was recognized for outstanding achievement. He was a member of the American Medical Association and the Mercer County Medical Society.
Son of the late John and Maria Palmieri, he is survived by his wife, Jean Immordino Palmieri; four sons and two daughters-in-law, John G. of Tuckerton, Steven of Holland, Pa., Thomas N. and Wendy of Yardley, Pa., and Paul C. and Kim of Titusville; a daughter and son-in-law, Adrienne and Thomas Barlow of Holland, Pa.; and five grandchildren, Kyle and Erin Palmieri and Luke, Faith and Cara Barlow.
Funeral was Thursday at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, Lawrence Road. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Lawrence Road.
Burial was in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton.
