Letter to the editor
To the editor:
I thank you for publishing my poem, "In Memory of Florence Turner" ("Senior Corner," Aug. 10, 2000). But tell me what kind of line is "She never is what I learned from anyone to hear?" It makes no sense. The line I wrote is "She never said an unkind word for anyone to hear."
I waited 50 years to be published and this is what happened. I don’t know if Mrs. Colavita retyped it and made the error, or whether it was made in your office, but nobody, obviously, proofread it. It has detracted from the joy of being published.
Mrs. Colavita said I should be satisfied because it was free. I think it makes me look like an idiot.
