Princeton Freewheeler event draws more than a thousand cyclists.
More than a thousand bicyclists descended on the Princeton area on Saturday to take part in the Princeton Bicycling Event, sponsored by the Princeton Freewheelers.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the event offered bicyclists seven tours ranging from 16 to 100 miles, in an attempt to accommodate all ability levels.
Headquartered at Rider University in Lawrence, routes spread out to the east and west.
The event provided participants with free bike adjustments, cue sheets, road markings, snack stops and emergency services.
Princeton Freewheelers sponsors Saturday and Sunday bicycle rides in the central New Jersey area each weekend during the year, and evening rides in the summer. Members receive a monthly newsletter describing the rides, trips and social events. Princeton Free Wheelers enjoy the camaraderie of riding with a group, informal advice to new members, maintenance tips and education about safe riding practices.
