Eugene Palmer

   STOCKTON – Eugene Palmer, 99, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Heritage Towers, Doylestown, Pa.
   Born in Stockton, he was a lifelong resident.
   He retired from the state of New Jersey as a personnel director in 1964.
   Mr. Palmer was a member of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Stockton.
   He was a longtime member chief and president of Stockton Fire Company and served as mayor of Stockton from 1948 to 1949. He was a borough councilman and member of Stockton Civic Committee and Planning Board.
   Son of the late Frank and Rose Palmer, he is survived by his wife of 78 years, Ruth Mason Palmer; a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Nick Schwartz of Stockton; two sisters, Fanny Delia and Della Delvehico of Jersey City; a granddaughter, Valerie Tramontana of Trenton; and two great-grandchildren.
   The funeral was held Friday at Garefino Funeral Home, Lambertville, with Deacon Joseph Masterson of St. John’s Roman Church and the Rev. David Errickson co-officiating. Burial was in Sandy Ridge Cemetery.

Jonathan Kaplan

   FLEMINGTON – Jonathan Kaplan, 62, died Friday, Oct. 13, at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township.
   Born in Silver Springs, Md., he lived in Lambertville many years before moving to Flemington in 1998.
   He was a photographer and playwright and graduated from Solebury School in New Hope.
   Son of the late David and Harriet Halbert Kaplan, he is survived by a daughter, Jocelyn Monroe of Escanaba, Mich.; a son, Joshua of Taos, N.M.; a brother, Alan of Arroyo Hondo, N.M.; and a grandson, Evan Douros.
   Funeral and burial will be private. There will be no calling hours.
   Arrangements are by Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home.
Lee Stang

   MONROE – Lee Stang-Harr, 72, died Saturday, Oct. 7, at The Medical Center at Princeton.
   Born in Mount Carmel, Pa., she moved to the Princeton/Cranbury area in 1957 and the Monroe area in 1971.
   A graduate of Central Park School of Art, she was a local artist and teacher and instructor in pastel and portrait painting. Her work was exhibited and received the Trump Purchase Award, an award from the Pastel Society of America in New York City in 1985, and other honors.
   Mrs. Stang-Harr painted a 15-foot mural depicting Cranbury Township history, which hangs in the township post office, and painted portraits of Victorian children. Her work is included in galleries and private collections across the country.
   She was a member of the Salma Gundi Club, an organization of portrait artists in New York City.
   She is survived by her husband, Hugh Harr; a daughter, Sally Stang of Lambertville; a son, Ric Stang of Hopewell; a granddaughter, Sonja Stang; four sisters, Barbara Kennedy of Greeley, Pa., Jane Hagey of West Palm Beach, Fla., Patricia Marso of Media, Pa., and Margo Armstrong of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three stepsons; and seven step-grandchildren.
   The memorial service was Saturday at United Methodist Church, Cranbury, with the Rev. Jack Foster, pastor, officiating.

Richard Wilson

   YARDLEY, Pa. – J. Richard Wilson, 56, died Friday, Oct. 13, at St. Mary Medical Center, Middletown.
   Born in Paterson, N.J., he was an area resident for 11 years.
   He retired from USX-Fairless Works in Falls, where he was first helper in the open hearth. He co-owned the Shirt Gallery.
   He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and served in Germany.
   Mr. Wilson was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church and a board member of Morrisville Presbyterian Church Youth Club. He graduated from Pennsbury High School in 1961 and enjoyed skiing.
   Widower of Barbara James Wilson and brother of the late Jeffrey G., he is survived by a daughter, Melissa Sarah Wilson of Yardley; a son, Charles of Stockton, Calif.; a sister, Sarah W. Morgan of Levittown; four brothers, W. Robert of Maytown, Stephen J. of Lambertville, Terrance M. of Penndel and Timothy P. of Levittown; a companion, Denise Dacey; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
   A funeral mass was held Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Church, Lower Makefield. Burial in Thompson Memorial Cemetery, Solebury.
   Arrangements were under the direction of the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home.

Leon Stark

   LAMBERTVILLE – Leon Theodore Stark, 73, of Lambertville died Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township.
   Born In New York City, Mr. Stark lived in Port Washington, N.Y., and Pennington before coming to Lambertville 12 years ago.
   He was a patent attorney with AT&T for 30 years. He was graduated from New Mexico Institute of Technology with a degree in petroleum engineering and received two law degrees from the School of Law at New York University.
   During World War II he served as a radio officer with the Merchant Marines.
   He was a member of the First Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Hunterdon County.
   He was the son of the late Euphemie and Antony Stark. He is survived by his wife, Harriet Morris Stark; his son, Antony Stark of Cambridge, Mass.; his daughters, Kathy Stark Aoki of Los Altos, Calif., and Leslie Stark Wolff of Austin, Texas; his grandchildren, Rebecca and Alex Wolff of Austin; and his two sisters, Helen Cross of Bloomfield, Conn., and Grace Stark of New York City.
   A private memorial service was held Sunday at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, Lambertville. The Rev. Susan Henshaw, pastor, and the Rev. Robert Gregson, consulting minister, of the First Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Hunterdon County, officiated.
   A memorial service to be held at the Old Stone Church in Baptistown will be announced at a future date.

James Davies

   ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – James. M. Davies, 90, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, in Ormond Beach.
   Born in New York and raised in Merchantville, he lived in Trenton before moving to Florida in 1975.
   He worked in furniture sales for 45 years with J.B. Van Sciver Co., Trenton.
   Mr. Davies was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II.
   Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Davies; two sons, James of California and Robert of Trenton; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Robert Maurer of Ringoes; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
   Private services were held.
