John W. Mikita

   HAMILTON – John W. Mikita, 76, died Oct. 18 at Capital Health System at Fuld hospital, Trenton.
   Born in Trenton, he lived in Mercerville 46 years.
   He retired in 1989 after more than 42 years with Demag Delaval Steam Turbine Corp., Trenton.
   A Navy veteran of World War II, he participated in D-Day operations and was a Seabee in Europe and the Pacific.
   Mr. Mikita was a member of the Old Timers group of Delaval and Union Local 3355, AFL-CIO.
   Son of the late Steven and Maria Notta Mikita and brother of the late Mary Miller, Ann Slatino, Margaret Stankowski and Stephen, he is survived by his wife of 51 years, Wanda Mikita; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and James Schieferstein of Hamilton and Linda and Richard Voorhees of Lawrence; two sisters, Helen Wirpsza and Madaline Cartlidge; two grandchildren, Erica Schieferstein and Jill Voorhees; and nieces and nephews.
   Funeral was at Saul Colonial Home, Hamilton Square, with the Rev. Jeffrey Lee officiating.
   Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
