Worker dies after fall from roof

A Howell man fell from the roof of a construction project at the corner of Route 130 and Deans Road Wednesday afternoon.

   A 32-year-old Howell man died after falling from the roof of a warehouse under construction at the corner of Route 130 and Deans Rhode Hall Road at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
   According to witnesses, the victim was reaching for a piece of sheeting material when he lost his balance and fell approximately 35 feet.
   As of The South Brunswick Post’s Wednesday deadline, the victims identity had not been released by police because the family had not been notified.
   The victim was a member of Ironworkers Local 373 out of Perth Amboy and at the time of the accident was working for State Metal of Dunellen.
   After the fall coworkers began CPR, police said. South Brunswick police officers continued CPR when they arrived at the scene and then were assisted by Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad and paramedics.
   The victim was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
   The accident is being investigated by the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
