Larry D. Waddell, 70, died Thursday, May 10 at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in Fayetteville, N.C., he resided in Kendall Park for the past 24 years. He also lived for ten years in Newark.
Mr. Waddell was vice principal at Hammarskjold Middle School in East Brunswick for 37 years, retiring in 1996. He was a former principal of Bowne-Munro Elementary School. He earned his bachelor of arts degree from Fayetteville State University and his master’s degree from the Seton Hall School of Education.
He was a member of Six Mile Run Reformed Church, Franklin Park, where he was an elder and treasurer. He was a member of the MW King Soloman Grand Lodge and a past worshipful master of King Cyrus Lodge 9 in Newark.
Surviving are his wife, Mittie Waddell of Kendall Park; a son, Larry D. Waddell II of Philadelphia; a daughter, Laura M. Waddell of Somerset; two sisters, Ann Gordon of Bethesda, Md., and Vivian Addison and a brother, Alexander Waddell of the Bronx.
Services were held Tuesday, May 15 at Six Mile Run Reformed Church, 3037 Route 27 in Franklin Park. Burial was at Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick. Arrangements were by Anderson Funeral Service in New Brunswick.
