Four generations (l-r) celebrate the 100th birthday of Cynthia “Cindy” Jeffrey: granddaughter Joy Rinehart, Brick, Cynthia Jeffrey, granddaughter Judy Davies, North Plainfield, daughter Barbara Haydu, Manasquan, and great-granddaughter Emily Swingle, Brick.

Jeffrey was born on June 5, 1909, and marked her centennial with a party given by her family at the Neptune Rehabilitation & Care Center in Neptune where she currently resides. Cynthia was born in Orange and lived at the Jersey Shore, with her late husband Lloyd Jeffrey, most of her life, residing in Long Branch, Ocean Township, Howell Township and Neptune.

One of her favorite hobbies, until the age of 95, was attending horse races at Freehold Raceway. On her birthday, Freehold Raceway honored Cynthia by naming the first race after her.

Cynthia has three children: Barbara Haydu, Manasquan, Sally Sodemann, West Long Branch and Robert Hunter Jr., Palmetto, Fla., nine grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

The nonprofit Association of Central Jersey Travel Professionals (ACT) will meet for a dinner/seminar 6-9 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Holiday Inn, 700 Hope Road, Eatontown. The Long Branch Woman’s Club will hold the first meeting of its 89th year at 1 p.m. Sept. 3 at the West Long Branch Community Center, Locust Avenue.
