Exiled Afghan official to speak at PU

Dr. Ravan Farhadi, the Northern Alliance’s representative in the United Nations, will speak at Princeton University at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
The event will be held in McCosh Hall’s lecture room 50.
As the representative of the Northern Alliance, Dr. Farhadi has been in exile since the Taliban overran Afghanistan.
He is expected to share his insights on the Taliban and to explain how the Northern Alliance can help the United States in its battle against terrorism.
Dr. Farhadi is speaking at the invitation of the Princeton Committee Against Terrorism, a nonpartisan student group formed in response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Carlos Ramos-Mrosovsky, an organizer of the event, said, "On Sept. 11, freedom came under attack. These courageous people in Afghanistan understand that as well as anyone else in the world; they have been fighting for freedom for years. We are privileged to host their emissary, who will assuage the concerns that many have raised that America is waging a war on the people of Afghanistan. To the contrary, Dr. Farhadi will demonstrate that our countries share a mutual cause."
