The Jules L. Plangere Jr. Center for Communication and Instructional Technology at Monmouth University, West Long Branch, is the recipient of a 2002 New Jersey Golden Trowel Award.
The center won in the category of "Best of Educational: Colleges/Universities" for architectural excellence.
The award honors the design and construction excellence of the state’s top architects and designers, union contractors, owners and suppliers.
Winners are determined by a jury of architectural professionals. Award categories are commercial/industrial, residential, restoration/preservation, interiors, tile/marble/terrazzo, and landscaping. The Plangere Center was singled out as an innovative structure in the "Institutional" category, which includes educational, government, health care and religious architectural projects.
Festival to partner with Monmouth University
The Two River Film Festival has announced a partnership with Monmouth University, West Long Branch. The partnership will support the film festival’s activities and create film-related programs with students, faculty, and community members.
Monmouth will host festival events at its Jules L. Plangere Jr. Center for Communication and Instructional Technology, and Clearview Cinema, Red Bank, and Atlantic Theater, Atlantic Highlands, will also participate in the Oct. 10-12 festival. The festival’s first fund-raiser will be April 25 at Due Process Stables, Colts Neck.

‘Sweetheart Ball’ nets $65,000 for center
The sixth annual "Sweetheart Ball" held recently at Spring Lake Bath and Tennis Club raised approximately $65,000 for the Cancer Center at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.
The ball committee was chaired by Tara Demyanovich, Holmdel, and Cathy McCudden of the Wanamassa section of Ocean Township.
Joining the women were Dorothy Tonks, Forked River; Kathy Britton, Tinton Falls; Mary Beth Kelly, Brielle; and Carmela Pavliv, Diane McGrath and Kathy Sweeney, all of Spring Lake. Fur and jewelry for the event were provided by Winters Furs, Red Bank, and Earth Treasures Jewelers, Eatontown.
Tinton Falls Realtor joins Middletown firm
Re/Max, Middletown, has announced that Ellen Silver has joined the firm as a broker associate. The Tinton Falls resident will specialize in the listing and sale of residential properties in Monmouth County. Prior to joining the Middletown office, Silver worked at Re/Max Central, Marlboro.
