PRINCETON TOWNSHIP William G. Caffrey, 83, died Sunday, Dec. 23, at The Medical Center at Princeton.
Born in Archbald, Pa., he was a longtime Newark and Elizabeth resident and had lived in Princeton seven years.
He was a graduate of Jefferson High Shool, Elizabeth.
He retired from General Motors Corp. Bloomfield.
He was an active member in community service with St. Patrick’s Pro-Cathedral, Newark, and St. Paul’s R.C. Church, Ewing.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Infantry Division.
Son of the late Martin and Agnes Caffrey and predeceased by two sisters and three brothers, he is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anita M. Caffrey; a son, Paul Caffrey of Marshall, Va.; three daughters, Jane Reid and Catherine Gregory of Lawrence and Anita Richichi of Princteon; a sister, Agnes Scewczyszyn of Berkley Heights; and four grandsons.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at St. Paul’s R.C. Church, 214 Nassau St., Princeton Borough.
Burial will be at Princeton Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at Kimble Funeral Home, 1 Hamilton Ave., Princeton.
