HILLSBOROUGH Irene (Brobrowski) Newland died Dec. 14 in Somerset Medical Center, Somerville. She was 84.
Born in Old Forge, Penn., she lived in Manville prior to becoming a resident of Hillsborough in 1945.
Mrs. Newland worked as a seed packer for Vaughn Seed Company in Finderne section of Finderne for five years, retiring in 1975.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Manville. She was a member of the VFW Post 2290 Ladies Auxiliary in Manville.
Her husband, William E. Newland, died in 1995; a son, Robert D. Newland, died in 1980.
Survivors include two sons, William R. of Hillsborough and Allan J. of Hampton; three daughters, Geraldine Taylor of Hillsborough, Judith Ballota of Little Egg Harbor, and Lorraine Reed of Manville; two sisters, Eleanor Rakowitz of Manville and Virgie Leoniy of Toms River; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Dec. 18 at Fucillo and Warren Funeral Home, Manville, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at Sacred Heart R.C. Church. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hillsborough.
