Rocco C. Granata, 60, died Thursday, Jan. 17, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge Division.
Born in New York City, he lived in The Bronx, N.Y., before moving to the Jamesburg-Monroe area in 1972. He was a self-employed diamond setter for over 20 years.
He was a lifelong member of the Giglio Society, an Italian-American fraternity, of East Harlem, N.Y. The Giglio Society coordinates Italian-American cultural events and is known for its involvement with St. Anthony’s parish in the Bronx.
His parents, Angelo and Josephine (Salzillo) Granata, both died in 2000. His brother, Anthony, died in 1993, and a his sister, Nancy Granata Alfano, died in 1989.
Surviving are his former wife, Lynne Granata of Freehold; two daughters, Audra and her husband, Vincent DeGulis, of Marlboro and Nancy Granata of Monroe; two brothers, James and his wife, Alida, of Monroe and Thomas and his wife, Susan, of Olney, Md.; three grandchildren, Jordan and Julia DeGulis and Taylor Boyle and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 19, at M. David DeMarco Funeral Home in Monroe, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at St. James R.C. Church in Jamesburg. Entombment followed at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in South Brunswick.<</p>
