PLUMSTED The school board Monday approved the final ballot question for proposed renovations and construction in the district.
The school board announced the total cost of the project will be $17.95 million. Of that, $6.7 million will be provided by state aid and approximately $3 million will come from a district capital reserve account. Voters will be asked to approve borrowing the remaining $8.19 million at referendum March 12, according to Business Administrator/Board Secretary Jim Edwards.
Mr. Edwards said the total tax impact of the referendum translates to $228, based on the township average $150,000 per household. Broken down, the figure translates to $80 in taxes the first year and $148 the second year, Mr. Edwards said.
Officials have proposed construction of a 45,000-square-foot primary school, renovations to New Egypt Elementary School and the addition of six new class rooms at New Egypt High School. The proposed construction and renovation to the primary school is estimated to cost approximately $10.19 million, while additions and renovations to the high school and middle school, are estimated to cost $4.39 million and $3.93 million, respectively.
