Robert William Gernhart, 70, died Thursday, Feb. 14, at Capital Health System at Fuld hospital, Trenton.
Born in Trenton, he was a longtime Lawrence resident.
He retired in 1993 from Trap Rock Industries, Kingston, after 30 years as a carpenter foreman.
He was an Army veteran, serving with the 508th Airborne Regiment.
Mr. Gernhart was a member of Lawrence American Legion Post 414 and coached its legion baseball team. Also, he worked with the township Junior Baseball Organization and managed Babe Ruth and Senior Babe Ruth teams. He was a past president of Lawrence Athletic Association.
Son of the late Albert E. Sr. and Edna Mahan Gernhart and brother of the late Albert E. Jr. and James, he is survived by his wife, Marie Flynn Gernhart; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Kathy and Dale Robbins, Jackee and Mark Lenarski, Bobbee and Tim Kasony and Judy Gernhart; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Edna Froehlich and Marjorie and Frank Enko.
Arrangements were by Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton.
