I would like to respond to the front-page article in last week’s Beacon, "Bibeaus defend plans to develop property."
First and foremost, the article "misses the mark" on the defense of the aforementioned land parcel that is being considered for development. This is not a battle between the Concerned Citizens and the Bibeaus. Furthermore, it is not my concern, nor my business to know, that they have lost "hundreds of thousands of dollars" in a BAD business situation. Was the money spent to renovate the home for "the people who had fallen through the cracks of society," or to build their art studios? Completely irrelevant.
What is relevant is that there is a 30-acre parcel of land that is being considered for development that the "neighbors" are not supporting for a variety of environmental, historical and aesthetic reasons. Again, nothing personal.
What the Bibeaus need to understand is that the Concerned Citizens of Western Hillsborough are here for the long haul. We need to protect the rural character of this corridor, ensuring that the historic and aesthetic preservation, both in land and home, maintain integrity. It’s why we choose to live here.
