Roger D. Sullivan
Aeronautical engineer
   Roger Draffan Sullivan of Princeton died Thursday at The Medical Center at Princeton of lung cancer. He was 77.
   He had lived the last 45 years in Princeton.
   He was an aeronautical engineer for Aeronautical Research Associates of Princeton from 1957 until his retirement in 1991.
   He discovered a new, closed-form solution of the Navier-Stokes equations for fluid flows, now called the Sullivan vortex. He also worked on methods to predict the formation and decay of vortex wakes behind large aircraft.
   He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aeronautical engineering from the University of Michigan.
   He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Margaret Peplow Sullivan; sons John Sullivan of Urbana, Ill., and Charles Sullivan of Hanover, N.H.; and sisters Joan Muller and Patricia Taylor.
   Private burial will be in Princeton Cemetery.
   A memorial service will be held in late April.

Nancy T. Sommers
Former Princeton resident
   NEWTOWN, Pa. — Nancy Trenholm Sommers died at Pennswood Village March 16. She was 85.
   Born in St. Paul, Minn., she was a 36-year resident of Princeton.
   She also lived in Cambridge, Mass.; Los Alamos, N.M.; Zurich, Switzerland; and Jerusalem, Israel. She summered on Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., since 1956.
   She was an artist and patron of the arts, writer and poet. An antique collector and dealer, she specialized in 18th century American antiques.
   Her other interests included architecture, philosophy and psychiatry.
   She was an active member of the Unitarian Universalists Congregation of Princeton and prided herself on being a "liberal."
   She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Henry Stern Sommers of Newtown; daughters Ann Harrington of Salem, Ore., and Heather Sussman of Chilmark, Mass; sons Craig Sommers of San Francisco and Hank Sommers of Madison, Wisc.; grandchildren Lila Steere, Jody Sussman and Dillon Sussman; and great-granchildren Landon, Rowan and Nevia Steere.
   A memorial service will be held at Pennswood Village in Newtown 1:30 p.m. April 18.
Gail F. Anderson
Longtime area resident
   PLAINSBORO — Gail F. Anderson, 63, died Wednesday at home.
   Born in Princeton, she was a lifelong area resident.
   Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker.
   She was a graduate of Centenary College of Hackettstown.
   She devoted much of her time to her grandchildren. She was fond of dogs.
   Daughter of the late Harold and Edna Freeman, she is survived by her husband of 42 years, Douglas Anderson; daughters and son-in-law Kimberley Anderson Humbard of Plainsboro and Lauren and Drew Swaney of High Bridge; and grandchildren Kenneth, Douglas, Laura and Kimberley Humbard and Rickey and Steven Swaney.
   The funeral will be private.

Faith S. H. Stewart
Longtime Princeton resident
   HIGHTSTOWN — Faith Severance Hackl Stewart died Wednesday at Meadow Lakes.
   She was a Princeton resident for 50 years.
   She was the wife of the late George F. Hackl Jr., former governor and vice chairman of the New York Stock Exchange. Following his death in 1974 she married James P. Stewart, president of Delavel Co. and a trustee of Cornell University and Rider College.
   She is survived by her daughter, Faith Hackl Ward of Hopewell; son George C.S. Hackl of Tuftonboro, N.H.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
   A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. May 23 at Trinity Church, Princeton.
