Hopewell Township police are investigating a case of burglary and theft at the Foremost Market, a convenience store on the northbound side of Route 31 at the Pennington Circle.
Lt. George Meyer said Tuesday that Detective Mike Simonelli responded to an electronic burglar alarm from the store at 2:15 a.m. May 22.
When the detective arrived, he found that the market’s front door had been smashed in and the cash register was gone. It appeared that the burglary and theft had taken place shortly before Detective Simonelli arrived. There had been about $70 in cash in the register, which was valued at $200.
Detective Lance Maloney is conducting a follow-up investigation.
