MONTGOMERY — The township Police Department will host its local observance of National Night Out on Aug. 6.
The event is part of a nationwide law enforcement initiative to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness by bringing residents and police officers together in an informal setting.
Most of the department’s officers will be on hand in Montgomery Park between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday, along with fire and emergency services personnel, hosting a variety of events for children and adults. Other guests include the Somerset County SWAT team.
Pizza and drinks will be served for lunch.
Later in the evening, a police and EMS motorcade will tour township neighborhoods.
"This is what brings the community, police and government together to get the job done," Police Director Michael Beltranena said. "The job of ensuring Montgomery Township is a safe place to live, work, and play."
