Joann L. Lynch, 77, died Friday, July 10, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in Brooklyn, she lived in Middletown for 38 years before moving to Rossmoor in 1995. She received her nurses training at Adelphi College and then received a bachelor of science degree in nursing administration from Adelphi. She continued her studies, obtaining an masters degree in audiology from Kean College and continued post-graduate work at Columbia University Teacher’s College in New York. She was the former director of the Speech and Hearing Department at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch and later held the same position at Riverview Hospital in Red Bank for a total of 30 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of several professional associations, and was a member of St. James R.C. Church in Jamesburg.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Donald E.; two daughters, Joann L. Lynch, Esq. of Plainsboro and Beth Ann Hazelwood of Rochester, N.Y.; two sons, Donald of Middletown and David of Old Bridge; a sister, Jacqueline Farrell of Shark River Hills; and four grandchildren.
Cremation will be held privately under the direction of M. David DeMarco Funeral Home in Monroe. Memorial contributions may be made to either the League of the Hard of Hearing, 71 W. 23rd St., New York, N.Y., or the Mother Seton Guild, Emittsburg, Md.
