Last month, the Beacon printed a thank-you letter from me for all the support the people of Hillsborough have provided to my brother, Vinny, currently serving in the US over in Iraq.
Recently, I received a letter from him dated June 1, thanking my daughter’s seventh-grade POD for their support. Here is his letter:
Dear Kids of POD 7B:
Thank you for the packages that you sent with all the great stuff for my soldiers. We really needed the supplies. Iraq is a very hot and dusty country and we haven’t had a lot of time to do any shopping. They don’t have a Wal-Mart in Baghdad, and we probably wouldn’t have found anything good at the local market.
We are very thankful that you took the time to consider helping us out. It’s a great feeling knowing that the people at home are thinking about us and that they care.
Hopefully, we’ll all be home soon.
We miss our families and all the great things that we have in America.
Thanks again, study hard and GO Yankees!
