WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP— Police are searching for a woman who robbed a Wachovia bank in Robbinsville on Tuesday afternoon, making away with an undisclosed amount of money.
A white woman approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall and wearing a black wig and a red and white baseball cap pulled down over her face entered the bank on North Main Street at 2:06 p.m., police said. She approached a teller and handed her a note asking for money.
Police said the robber then put a black duffel bag on the counter and the teller filled it with money. The woman then left the bank and got into a silver sport utility vehicle, possibly a "newer" Ford Explorer, driven by a white male wearing a black ski cap, police said. The car might have had Pennsylvania license plates, police said.
The pair were last seen heading west on Route 33 toward Hamilton.
"She was in and out of there pretty quickly," Lt. Dominick Botteri said.
No weapon was displayed and the robber did not make any threats, police said. No one was hurt in the incident. Police said there was one customer in the bank at the time of the robbery.
Witnesses and bank employees were being interviewed Tuesday afternoon by Washington Township police and agents from the FBI’s West Trenton office.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Washington Township Detective Chris Nitti at (609) 259-3900.
