STOCKTON — Gregory Cook has been appointed the borough’s volunteer emergency management coordinator.
He is replacing former coordinator Loree Niola, who resigned.
"I know the job will get done because he is a professional," Councilman Neal Esposito said when he announced the appointment Nov. 24.
He noted Mr. Cook is a fellow firefighter and rescue squad member.
"You are the best," Mayor Gregg Rackin said to the new OEM coordinator.
The mayor recounted residents’ tendencies to stop by the Cook home with various aches and injuries and the help Mr. Cook and his wife have given to community members, including members of the Borough Council.
Mr. Cook, 51, has been involved with fire and rescue teams since 1970. He is president of the Stockton Firemen’s Association and formerly served as vice president of the 10th District First Aid Council in Hunterdon County.
Mr. Cook was born in Paterson, and he has resided in Stockton for 12 years. He and his wife, Maryann, have two children. Ryan Cook, 21, is serving in the Navy. Gregory Cook Jr., 18, is a recent high school graduate.
