On Saturday, March 6, the Plainsboro Recreation Department will present "One World," an international showcase of song and dance celebrating Youth Arts Month. The afternoon will be highlighted by an exciting array of performances featuring students of area schools, cultural groups and arts organizations.
Participants will include Princeton Korean Dancers; Alborada Spanish Dancers; the African rhythm percussion duo Lara and Yael; West Windsor-Plainsboro Korean Girls Modern Dance Team; DeNogla School of Irish Dance; Plainsboro Chinese School; Griggstown Lockrapper Sword Team; WW-P Chinese Club, and interactive percussion featuring ethnic music from India and Indian dancers.
Throughout the afternoon, the audience will be able to actively participate in some of the music demonstrations and folk crafts.
"One World" is the latest in a series of multicultural programs offered by the township. These popular programs create opportunities for people of diverse backgrounds to share their cultural heritage with the community, while promoting appreciation and awareness through the arts. The event kicks off at 2 p.m. with performances running continuously until approximately 5 p.m. Admission is free. Doors open at 1:45 p.m. with open seating on a first come, first served basis.
During intermission, participants will have an opportunity to view folk craft demonstrations as well as hundreds of works by local students on exhibit in the municipal building and the public library throughout the month of March. The Plainsboro Historical Society and Human Relations Council will also be featuring activities and exhibits during the afternoon at the Wicoff House.
