To the editor:
Isn’t it now evident that it’s about time, Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan give up the job and join the ranks of the retired?
His recent report indicating that the generous cost-of-living index be replaced with a more frugal type index as a means of reigning in the exploding budget is laughable if not pathetic.
I wonder how many among the retired military, disabled veterans and other retirees like his problem-solving methods when comparing their Greenspan-called generous COLAs with the increasing Medicare premiums that are about to really implode with the forthcoming new Medicare act.
The real pathos rests with the baby boomers. Chairman Greenspan wants to keep them working until they drop; however, if they drop too fast then he’ll surely want to decrease the burial allowance as well.
