Three causes need your time and dedication

By: Mae Rhine
Three worthy causes need your help.
Coming up first is the annual Shad Festival. Volunteers always are needed, and you get a free, cool Shad Festival T-shirt to boot!
Call the Lambertville Area Chamber of Commerce at 397-0055 to see what you can do for a few hours Saturday or Sunday, April 24 and 25.
Don’t forget the money made during Sunday’s poster auction benefits high school seniors from South Hunterdon and New Hope-Solebury high schools with art scholarships.
Next up is the monthly meeting of the Lambertville-New Hope Winter Festival committee, Thursday, May 6, at the Lambertville Station.
The festival raises money for parks and recreation commissions on both sides of the river as well as other community organizations such as schools, fire, police and rescue.
The festival could be in trouble next year because things are starting to cost too much to keep it going. So show up at the meeting or e-mail Susan Waller at [email protected].
Finally, the annual Relay for Life will be held May 22-23 at South Hunterdon.
In this event teams walk to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s research and educational programs.
Much help is needed, including local cancer survivors who walk the first lap, some struggling through treatments, but still trying to do their part to raise money. After the first lap, they attend a luncheon honoring them and their families.
Call Norma and Erik Zimmerman at 397-8892 or e-mail [email protected].
