MONROE The school board is a step closer to finding a new assistant superintendent.
School board President Joseph Homoki said board members hope to appoint an assistant superintendent by the end of August and that they have agreed to a tentative search schedule.
The new assistant superintendent would replace Gail Brooks, who resigned in June to head the Pleasantville School district in Atlantic County. Dr. Brooks earned $126,000 annually. Mr. Homoki said the position has been advertised and that members of the Personnel Committee are screening resumes.
Mr. Homoki said that candidates must hold at least a master’s degree but that those with doctorates are preferred. Candidates should also have extensive experience in supervising staff and developing curricula, Mr. Homoki said.
The committee is expected to interview at least five candidates during the first week of August, Mr. Homoki said.
Beginning on approximately Aug. 9, candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprised of Mr. Homoki, Business Administrator Wayne Hamilton and representatives of the Personnel Committee, principals’ association, Education Association and district PTO/PTA’s.
By approximately Aug. 25, the school board is expected to interview two finalists, Mr. Homoki said.
