The Coastal Monmouth Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse, in conjunction with the Long Branch Health Department and the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services’ Division of Addiction Service, has completed 31 Tobacco Age of Sale Enforcement (TASE) surveys in Long Branch.
Random, unannounced inspections, with the help of the local health department, of both over-the-counter and vending machines are conducted to determine if tobacco retailers are complying with the law.
The TASE program provides merchants with easy-to-read brochures explaining the laws, as well as signage regarding the law for display at their place of business.
The next meeting of the Coastal Monmouth Alliance is scheduled to be held on March 10 at Shore Regional High School from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
