Betty L. Jones



   Betty L. Jones (nee Ford), 80, formerly of Florence, died on Nov. 12 at Cardinal Care Center, Washington Township.
   Born in Roebling, she lived in the Roebling-Florence area all of her life before moving to Washington Township in February of this year.
   Mrs. Jones retired in 1986 as a secretary at the Fort Dix Military Base after 15 years service. Previously she also worked as a secretary for Burlington County Memorial Hospital and the Ocean Spray Co. She was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting Teddy bears and vacationing at LBI in the summer.
   She is survived by her husband, William J. Jones and a son and daughter-in-law, William and Joann Jones and a granddaughter, Lauren Jones, all of Mantua.
   A memorial service was held Wednesday at the Dennison Funeral Home, 214 W. Front St., Florence with Rev. John Orr officiating.
   Interment will be held today, Thursday, at 11 a.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Burlington.

Margaret I. Schlegel



   HAMILTON TOWNSHIP — Margaret I. (Garrie) Schlegel, 81, died at her home on Nov. 12.
   Born in Juliustown, she and her late husband John W. Schlegel resided in Hamilton Township most of her life and spent the winters at their Key Colony Beach, Fla. home. Upon graduation, she was a secretary at John A. Roebling and later at Princeton University.
   Daughter of the late John K. and Ella Oakerson Ingram, wife of John W. Schlegel, and sister of Beulah Ingram; she is survived by a sister, Iona Ingram of Hamilton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John C. and Elaine Ingram of Hamilton Township, and William W. and Ruth Ingram of Brant Beach; one niece, Sharon Ingram-Frangipani and her husband Joseph of Stafford Township; five nephews and their spouses, William W. Ingram Jr. of Charlotte, N.C., Brian and Barbara Ingram of Brant Beach, John W. Ingram of Hamilton, Jeffrey and Debra Ingram of Swedesboro, Scott and Debra Ingram of Hamilton; grandnephews and grandnieces, Brian Jr. and Eric Ingram, Jullian and Jordan Frangipani, and Brooke Ingram.
   Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square. Interment followed in Juliustown United Methodist Cemetery, Juliustown.

Martina Smith



   CREAM RIDGE — Martina "Tina" Smith, 88, died Nov. 11 at St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton.
   Born in Jessup, Pa., she lived in Bordentown until moving to Cream Ridge in 1986. She was a former sewing machine operator for Crescent Sportswear in Bordentown. She was a member of the Church of the Assumption in New Egypt, The Young at Hearts in Cookstown, The New Hanover Township Senior Citizens and was their treasurer, The Bordentown Township Senior Citizens, and the Bordentown Chapter of Deborah.
   Wife of the late Chester E. Smith, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Marge Smith of Mays Landing; a sister, Lillian Sebastianelli of Wrightstown; two grandchildren, Sally Henry and Brian Smith, both of Mays Landing; two great-grandchildren, Davina and Kristen Henry; and several nieces and nephews.
   Funeral services were held Monday at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main St., New Egypt.
   Interment was in the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, North Hanover.

Elizabeth McCorriston



   Elizabeth (Betty) McCorriston (nee Cook), of Florence, died Nov. 11 at home. Born in Charleston, W.Va., she lived in Hedding before moving to Florence 60 years ago.
   Betty was the owner and operator of the Olde Time Lawn Service in Barnegat Light for several years before retiring five years ago. In her earlier years, she worked at the Norcross Card Co. and as a cosmetician for the Sun-Ray Co. in Philadelphia. She was an avid gardener and a past president of the Florence Elementary School PTA.
   Sister of the late John Cook, she is survived by her son, Michael McCorriston of Barnegat Light; a sister-in-law, Jane Cook and a brother-in-law, Fran McCorriston, both of Florence and nieces and nephews.
   Funeral service was held on Tuesday at the Dennison Funeral Home, 214 W. Front St., Florence. Rev. Felix Venza, pastor of St. Clare’s Church in Florence officiated. Entombment was in Princeton Memorial park Mausoleum in Robbinsville.


H. Willis Fuller



   BORDENTOWN CITY — H. Willis "Reds" Fuller of Bordentown City died Nov. 11 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Willingboro.
   Born in Bordentown, he was a lifelong resident. He and his late wife, Anna "Toots" Fuller were the proprietors of Eddie’s Bar and Grille in the City for many years. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church where he was also the Sexton for many years. He was also a member of Bordentown Lodge 2085, B.P.O. Elks.
   He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Phyllis and Russell Archer of Aynor, S.C. and Shirley Blakely of Bristol, Pa., two brothers, Paul Fuller of Florida and Raymond Fuller of Missouri, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Helen Varley.
   The Burial Office and Requiem Eucharist was celebrated Monday in Christ Episcopal Church, 130 Prince St., Bordentown. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bordentown Township. Memorials may be made to either Christ Episcopal Church or the American Cancer Society.


Robert Prout



   Robert Eugene Prout, 73, died Nov. 5 at the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Hamilton. Born in Floreffe, Pa., he lived in Trenton before moving to Bordentown in 1968.
   In 1949, he enlisted into the United States Army and served during the Korean War. During his enlistment, he met his wife Yvonne. He was honorably discharged in December 1954 with the rank of Sergeant. He received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. After his enlistment, he worked as a Construction Electrician with the I.B.E.W. Local 103. He retired in 1987 after 33 years of service. In 1988 Bob and Yvonne Prout became the owners of the Country Cousins Deli. They sold the business in 1998.
   He was a life member of the Bordentown Elks Lodge No. 2085, the VFW Post 491 and the American Legion Post 26. He was an avid Eagles fan.
   Son of the late William and Gladys Prout, he is survived by his wife of 51 years, Yvonne Prout; his children, Robert and Cynthia Prout of Cape Coral, Fla., Keith Prout and Joceline Urena and Fernando of Bordentown, Lynee and Charles Thompson of Hamilton Square, Michelle and Scott Avellino of Lawrenceville, and Maurya Prout of Bordentown; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Arlene and John Seamon of Bellvernon, Pa., Joyce and Gene Kennedy of Jefferson Hills, Pa., Carol Ann and Vince Mandella of Irwin, Pa.; four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Shirley and Howard Bennett of Warminster, Pa., Rosalie and Richard Zolzer of Lincoln, Mont., Marta Kopen of Hamilton Square, Delores Osterstuck of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren, Robert, Joshua, Scott, Shannon, Lauren and Lynae, and many nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
   Memorial contributions can be made to the Bordentown Elks Crippled Children Committee.Funeral services were held on Nov. 9 at the Bordentown Home for Funerals, 40 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. Interment will be private.
Howard Talifero



   BORDENTOWN — Howard Thomas Talifero of Bordentown, son of the late Howard Thomas Talifero Sr. and Myrtle Archer Talifero, died Oct. 31 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
   Mr. Talifero was raised and educated in the Trenton School District and served in the United States Air Force Airborne Division. He was employed many years with Roebling Steel and retired from general Motors of Ewing.
   He loved watching Yankee games, westerns, reading, gardening and playing lotteries. He was a former member of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Trenton.
   He was a former member of Woodlin Lodge 30 PHA, Ophir Consistory 48, and Khufu Temple being one of the last original founders of the Clowns Unit known as "Shoes." He was also a member of the Bordentown Workman Club, Concerned Citizens of Bordentown and the Bordentown Neighborhood Watch.
   Preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Payton Talifero and a sister-in-law, JoAnne Kay, Howard’s greatest joy was mentoring Ronny Payden Jr.
   He is survived by his wife, Sandra Kay-Talifero, one step-daughter, Terry Simmons, two grandsons, Ty’a and Al’Ziq, one sister, Carolyn Williams of Trenton, mother-in-law, Laura Kay of Bordentown, father-in-law, Ernest Picott of Ewing, three sisters-in-law, Patricia Kay of Bordentown, Joyce Talifero of Georgia, Joan Eure of Portsmouth, Va., one special friend, Turner Stevens of Trenton; grandchildren, Dawn Paden, Leslie Taylor, Jazmine Paden, Shannon Coakley of Bordentown, Tatanisha, Dyniqua and Tiarah Kay, Marques Kay all of Germany, Anthony Talifero, Tahj and Ronny Paden Jr. all of Trenton, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
   Funeral service was held Nov. 6 at Campbell Funeral Chapel, 1225 Calhoun St., Trenton. Interment was in Bordentown Cemetery.
