Willie Mae Stevens
Willie Mae Stevens, 90, of Jamesburg, died Thursday, Dec. 30, at Summer Hill Nursing Home, Old Bridge.
Born in Cape Charles, Va., she formerly lived in West Windsor before moving to Jamesburg 50 years ago. Prior to retirement, she was a presser for 25 years at Brodsky Dress Co. in South River. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union Local 157, New York. Ms. Stevens belonged to Robbinsville First Baptist Church where she served as Church Mother, and as a member of Pastor’s Aid, the Senior Choir and the Missionary Board, and was president of the Deaconess Board.
Her husband, Lorenzo Stevens, is deceased. She is survived by a daughter, Cherry Jones of Jamesburg; a son, Lorenzo Stevens of Ewing; a sister, Mary Nottingham of Philadelphia; a special grandson whom she raised, Lenneth J. Miller of Jamesburg; three other grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services was held Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Robbinsville Baptist Church, Main Street, Robbinsville. The Rev. Simeon Spencer, pastor of Union Baptist Church, Trenton, officiated. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery, Jamesburg. Arrangements are by Anderson Funeral Service, New Brunswick.
