Henry Winkler, star of stage and screen, will be speaking at "Oy Vegas," a fund-raiser for the Jewish Center of Princeton, which will take place on Saturday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the center.
Mr. Winkler’s speech will be followed by a special reception with dessert and dancing.
The event is directed by Lisa Smukler and Mark Killingsworth, funding co-chairs, with Joanne Berman and Cyndi Kleinbart, event co-chairs.
As "The Fonz" on the TV sitcom "Happy Days" (1974-1984), Henry Winkler became one of the most recognized actors in the world. He has won two Golden Globe Awards and three Emmy nominations for Best Actor in a comedy series. He has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Mr. Winkler is also an accomplished director, producer, author and humanitarian. In 2001, he returned to Broadway after a 30-year hiatus to star in Neil Simon’s "The Dinner Party." His best-selling "Hank Zipzer: The World’s Most Amazing Under-Achiever" series of children’s books was inspired by his childhood struggle with learning differences.
Mr. Winkler has been busy producing and acting on television shows as varied as "The Practice," "Arrested Development," "Third Watch" and "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit." Mr. Winkler’s JZM Productions has produced award-winning projects for children on important topics such as substance abuse, violence, learning disabilities and divorce.
Born in New York City, Mr. Winkler studied drama and child psychology at Emerson College and received his Master’s from the Yale School of Drama. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and three children.
