He was taken to the Burlington County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
NORTH HANOVER
Two teenagers were charged with shoplifting several bottles from a liquor store on Cookstown-New Egypt Road at 9:30 p.m. March 17.
The owner of the store told police that he saw Jonathan M. Mitchell, 18, of Springfield Township and a 16-year-old juvenile from New Egypt enter his business and run out with about $61.86 worth of liquor, police said.
The owner ran out after them and stood in front of their vehicle to prevent them from driving away, police said. The teenagers bumped the owner with the front of their car a few times before he jumped out of the way, police said.
Mr. Mitchell and the juvenile sped off, but police were able to track them down through the car’s license plate number, police said.
Police Chief Mark Keubler said the shoplifting charge could be upgraded to robbery after the case reaches the county, because the teenagers hit the owner with the front of the car.
