banquet
To the editor:
The time has come for the members of the Lambertville Fire Department to celebrate yet another year of service.
As you may already know, the dedication required to be part of a volunteer organization is tremendous. This holds true within the ranks of this great department.
The members in all of the four companies work very hard to ensure the safety of themselves along with the property and lives of whom we protect.
In 2004, the Lambertville Fire Department answered 218 calls for service, participated in 87 training activities and was involved in 67 special details for a total of 690 hours and six minutes service. This is time spent away from each member’s family without seeing anything in return.
In an effort to say thanks to these extraordinary individuals, the Lambertville Fire Department holds an annual dinner dance. The focus of this night is to say thank you to the men and women who unselfishly give up their time along with the families who put up with the missed meals, the late night "wake-up" calls and the time spent away from home.
The financing required to hold this event is tremendous, which is where you can help. Say thank you to the members by sending a tax-deductible contribution in the name of the Lambertville Fire Department to P.O. Box 494, Lambertville, 08530.
In addition, the event is open to the public. Anyone that would like to spend a night out with some great people can purchase tickets in advance by calling 397-5908 or just sending an e-mail to [email protected] please put dinner dance in the subject line.
The night of the event is Saturday, April 9, in the banquet hall of the Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance and Rescue Squad. A limited amount of tickets are available for $25 each, which includes an open bar, roast beef dinner, a short awards ceremony and dancing with the music of 519 South.
We hope you will support us in our goal to provide a well-deserved night off for the brave members of the Lambertville Fire Department. Thank you ever so much for your kindness and continued support of this city’s volunteer organizations. We look forward to hearing from you.

To the editor:
We could not begin to thank all the amazing people who have come to our assistance since the explosion in New Hope.
We don’t even know how to thank them. People we have never even met have made donations and have sent us good wishes. It’s just overwhelming.
We are grateful to each and every one of you. You will never know what a comfort it has been having the support of a community like ours. Thanks to all of you we have been able to rent a place to live yes, in New Hope and begin to rebuild our lives.
We did want to offer a special thanks to John and Robin Larsen and the staff at John & Peter’s for their support and effort with the two recent fund-raisers for us.
And to everyone who has sent a note or offered us a place to stay, contributed to the auction or performed at the concert, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
