WEST WINDSOR Angela Provitera McGlynn of Princeton, a faculty member at Mercer County Community College for 34 years and author of numerous articles and books, will deliver the keynote address at the college’s graduation ceremonies Thursday.
A professor of psychology, her writing and research have focused on college teaching strategies, classroom environment, motivation, women’s studies and diversity. Her most recent book, "Successful Beginnings for College Teaching: Engaging your Students from the First Day," was published by Atwood Publishing in 2001.
"I emphasize the importance of teaching, because the classroom experience may very well mean the difference between academic success and failure," Professor McGlynn said. "In my view, teachers at all levels of education should look at each student as someone’s precious child. With that perspective, we will do our best to teach and to guide all of our students."
She earned a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University, a master’s at Temple University, and did doctoral work at the New School for Social Research and Princeton University. She received the MCCC Distinguished Teaching Award in 1985.
Mercer County Community College’s commencement ceremonies take place at 6 p.m. at the West Windsor Campus.
