James H. Welsh Jr., 60, of Pennington died Sept. 18 at Care One Ewing.
A 1963 graduate of Hopewell Valley Central High School and a 1965 graduate of Trenton Junior College, from which he received a degree in liberal arts, he also attended Trenton State College.
He was a lifelong active member of St. James Church in Pennington, where he served as a lector and eucharistic minister.
His passion for classical music began when he started trumpet lessons in fourth grade and was instrumental in his choice of a career in various areas of the music and record industry. He started in the Philadelphia area at Franklin Music and WFLN. From the 1970s through the 1990s, he held classical record sales positions in New York at Polygram, German News and Koch International. He also worked in the music department of Princeton University Store.
Predeceased by his parents James and Myrtle Welsh, he is survived by a sister Sandy Welsh and niece, Katie, of Lawrenceville; a companion Phyllis Macatee of Philadelphia, Pa; and a cousin James R. Welsh of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; and many friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. James Chapel, Eglantine Avenue, Pennington, at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
Interment will be in Highland Cemetery, Hopewell.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Blackwell Memorial Home, 21 N. Main St., Pennington.
