Township mayor gives officials their assignments

Each committee member gets special tasks

   After taking the oath of office Tuesday night as Hopewell Township mayor for 2006, Vanessa Sandom gave out department assignments to the five members of the Township Committee.
   In charge of administration, health, environmental issues and wastewater for 2006 will be Ms. Sandom herself.
   — Deputy mayor David Sandahl will be in charge of finance, legal matters, planning and zoning.
   — Committeeman Mark Iorio will be in charge of economic development, agriculture and open space preservation.
   — Committeewoman Judy Niederer will be in charge of affordable housing, historic preservation and public safety.
   — Committeeman John Murphy will be in charge of recreation, buildings and grounds, public works and interlocal relations.
   Reappointed for 2006 were township Attorney Steve Goodell, Court Administrator Margaret Umbro, Deputy Municipal Clerks Anne Moore and Monica Pascarella, Treasurer Elaine Cruickshank-Borges and Pension Certifying Officer Deborah Smith.
   Appointed to the Zoning Board of Adjustment were Frank Klapinski, for four years, and Peter Nichols, to complete an unexpired term ending Dec. 31.
   Appointed to the Planning Board for one year were Ms. Sandom, Mr. Sandahl and John Hart, a former committeeman and mayor. Appointed for four years and two years respectively were Russell Swanson and Edward Gainsborg. Appointed to complete unexpired terms ending Dec. 31 were William Connolly and Billie Moore.
   Appointed to the Environmental Commission for three years were Peggy Snyder and George Kerr.
   Appointed to the Historic Preservation Commission for four years was Philip Robbins.
   Appointed to the Agricultural Advisory Committee for three years were Laura Sciarrotta and Pamela Flory.
   Appointed to the Open Space Advisory Committee for three years was Michael Dawson.
