The Friends of the Cranbury Public Library will be sponsoring a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC on Saturday, April 1.
A chartered bus will leave from the Library at 9:30 a.m., leaving the city at 4:30 p.m., with expected return to Cranbury between 5:30 and 6. The bus will be free to all current members of the Friends and $10 per person for all non-members. All participants must pay their own admission to the museum, at $12 for adults, $7 for seniors and $7 for students.
A signup sheet is available at the Library for the trip or e-mail requests to: [email protected]. If you need to check the status of your membership, send a request via e-mail to the above address.
The Cranbury Arts Council’s annual Cranbury Student Exhibit, "Young at Art," open to any Cranbury student between the third and 12th grades, is seeking entries in all media.
This is a juried exhibit, so the art must be mature in nature, and professional enough to hang in the Gourgaud Gallery.
The first three Young at Art exhibits proved quite successful in showcasing the talented youths we have in Cranbury, and its continued success has made it one of the gallery’s traditions.
Young at Art IV is scheduled to be exhibited in the Gallery during February. Applications are available on-line at www.cranbury.org, or from GGC members, Tamara Woronczuk, Lisa Walsh or Bob Virgadamo. Completed pieces must be submitted for jurying in the gallery on Jan. 27, between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The Council is also seeking entries for a second exhibit, a retrospective of work from any and all of Mrs. Woronczuk’s former students from the last 25 years.
Students currently in Mrs. Woronczuk’s classes are not eligible for this exhibit, but are encouraged to submit their works for Young at Art IV.
Works may be in any artistic 2- or 3-dimensional format, including architectural renderings, using any medium.
Applications may be obtained online by following the links at www.cranbury.org. Applications will be accepted from now through May 25. The exhibit will open on First Friday, June 2, and run through June 30.
The Cranbury Lions are planning two FUNdraising events in February and March, respectively. Treat your honey to a dozen or more red roses this Valentine’s Day.
The Cranbury Lions have made arrangements to purchase the highest quality red roses, in bunches of one dozen.
While the market rate for Valentine’s roses has not yet been set, the Lions plan to offer their roses at below regular retail rates. The price will be announced as soon as possible, but orders are being taken right now. Use the on-line order form, follow the links on www.cranbury.org, or call (609) 860-1900.
So if you’re planning on buying roses for your sweetheart on Valentines Day, Feb. 14, why not get them through the Cranbury Lions?
Order now so you’re not scrambling at the last minute, pick them up right here in town, and support the Lions all at the same time!
The Cranbury Lions are also planning to host a Fine Art Auction, on Saturday, March 4, in Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church of Cranbury.
The auction items will consist of original works of art, limited editions and signed prints.
In addition to the Auction, there will be a Tricky Tray Auction of fine art pieces donated by local artists.
Refreshments will be served. Tickets are $10 each and are available at the Cranbury Station Gallery or from any Cranbury Lion.
A change of -email address for Joyce Campbell, who now lives in Punxsutawney, Pa., no doubt eagerly awaiting the groundhog’s news on winter’s fate.
Her new address is [email protected] and Joyce encourages all her old friends from town to stay in touch.
Congratulations to sixth-grader Elizabeth Gerberich who won the school’s Geography Bee this week. Great job
