Plans to build a Yardville National Bank and a 150-seat restaurant near the intersection of Route 130 and South River Road are under way, with construction expected to begin sometime this summer.
On Monday, the Township Committee approved a developer’s agreement with American Properties of Iselin to build a 6,000-square-foot bank and a 3,799-square-foot restaurant on a 2.2-acre piece of land adjacent to the Residence Inn.
Township Construction Official Greg Farrington said he is waiting for the developer to submit more information before he issues a building permit that will allow construction to begin. According to the site plans approved by the Zoning Board of Adjustment in October, the bank will face Route 130 and will have a three-bay drive-up with access to an ATM. The restaurant will be behind the bank and parallel to South River Road.
According to the planning office, American Properties has secured Yardville National Bank as a tenant, but has yet to find a tenant for the restaurant.
American Properties — which also had to gain approval from the Historic Preservation Commission for being in 2,400-foot buffer zone — has agreed to make both buildings look alike with similar paint and window tints. In addition, the company also said the restaurant would be a standard sit-down restaurant and not a fast-food restaurant.
Both buildings will be one-story tall and have access from Route 130 and South River Road via a 30-foot wide road that passes through the lot and connects both roads. The road and parking lot also will connect to the parking lot of the Residence Inn.
There will 86 parking spaces for both facilities including handicapped spaces. There also will be a raised crosswalk from the bank to an existing crosswalk at the hotel.
