Police are asking for help in finding those responsible for three residential burglaries that occurred in the past week.
Police said the bandits forced their way into two of the homes, and stole jewelry, a safe and electronics between May 11 and Wednesday.
Police Chief Jay Hansen said there is no evidence that the incidents were related. However, he said the community should be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.
"If they see something, by all means call the police right away," Chief Hansen said Thursday. "Anything that strikes you as being unusual."
The first burglary occurred at a North Main Street home while the owners were away, between 4:45 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Chief Hansen said. When the owners returned they noticed that the motor to the garage door opener was running but the door was not open, Chief Hansen said. The intruders gained entry by forcing open the side door and a window, both of which had been locked, police said. The residents reported that jewelry and a safe were taken, but police did not know the value of either, Chief Hansen said.
In another incident, police received a call Wednesday morning from a landscaping company that the back door to a Cranbury Green home had been forced open and that the owners of the house were not there. Chief Hansen said the front door had been forced open and the owners reported that jewelry had been stolen. Police did not have a value of the jewelry.
Later that day, police said, the owners of a Cranbury Neck Road home reported that someone entered their house between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. and stole electronic equipment, including a computer monitor.
There were no signs of forced entry, but police believe the burglar entered the house through the rear door, which was unlocked.
Chief Hansen said residents should report any suspicious activity, such as an unfamiliar car near a neighbor’s house or movement in a house that one knows is unoccupied.
