On behalf of the Hillsborough Board of Education, I wish to express our sincere appreciation to Mayor Carl Suraci and the Township Committee for their support of an additional student assistance counselor at Hillsborough High School.
As discussed on May 9, at the Township Committee meeting, the primary purpose of the student assistance counselor is to provide educational programs and services to students that are designed to prevent the use of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco at our high school.
The student assistance counselor also provides referral and support services to students and families who are involved in substance abuse. Unfortunately, some of our students, as well as students from other districts, are involved in the use of drugs.
We hope that by working together we can mitigate the use of drugs, by all, within the Hillsborough community.
I sincerely look forward to working with the Township Committee, Hillsborough Police Department and other community-based organizations in our ongoing quest to eliminate the use of drugs throughout Hillsborough.
