Police have charged a South 18th Avenue man with aggravated sexual contact, sexual assault and endangering a child after he allegedly sexually assaulted two girls.
Adam Slutter, 21, was charged at 12:32 p.m. Aug. 31 with aggravated sexual contact involving a 13-year-old girl from Manville, police said.
The sexual contact occurred Aug. 13, police said.
On Wednesday, Mr. Slutter was charged again after a second victim came forward, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne Forest.
Mr. Slutter was transported to Somerset County Jail at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or bond.
Aggravated sexual contact is defined as genital contact with a minor and may be punishable with imprisonment for three to five years; a fine of not more than $15,000; or both; or imprisonment for a term of five years without the possibility of parole for a second or subsequent offense; or imprisonment for a minimum term of between one-third and one-half of the sentence imposed by the court or three years, whichever is greater, according to state criminal statute.
If found guilty of sexual assault, Mr. Slutter may face imprisonment for five to 10 years; a fine of up to $150,000; or both; or imprisonment for five years with no chance of parole.
Neither police nor the prosecutor’s office provided further information on the alleged incidents that led to the charges.
At 10:46 p.m. Saturday, two days after he was charged, Mr. Slutter was sitting in his car at the intersection of North Greasheimer Street and Raritan Avenue when three unidentified people sprayed him with mace and punched him in the face, police said.
Police said Mr. Slutter suffered facial contusions and was transported to Somerset Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
No one has been charged in the assault against Mr. Slutter.
