   Business networking. The Hillsborough chapter of BNI, Clients Plus, meets at 7 a.m. Tuesdays at Roycebrook Golf Club in Hillsborough.    The Red-Headed League of Jersey, a society of Sherlock Holmes aficionados, will meet at the Union Hotel on Main Street in Flemington. Potential new members and guests are welcome.    Easy Thanksgiving dishes from celebrity chef Scott Maldonado will be shared at the showroom for DreamMaker Bath and Kitchen of Hillsborough. Mr. Maldonado has prepared meals for John F. Kennedy Jr. at the Broadway Grill and has earned several prestigious awards such as the ARAMARK Culinary Excellence silver medal in 2005. He will be providing tips as wells as recipes to ensure a savory Thanksgiving spread. Cameras are welcome during the event at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday.    The Franklin Inn, 2371 Amwell Rd., East Millstone, will be displaying the personal antique doll collection of Lady Haight-Ashton, 1-4 p.m. Saturday. The collection consists of china, wax, and papier-mâché-head dolls from the 1790s to the Civil War era. Lady Haight-Ashton has been adding to her doll collection for more than a decade. Lady Haight-Ashton will be at the one-day show to speak about her dolls and their history, and share her knowledge and tips for doll collection. The event will offer a fine display of antique dolls that will give the interested a glimpse into the history of doll-making and dressing, from their very individual handmade doll bodies to their finely tailored garments.    The Manville Exempt Firemen’s Association will serve a Polish dinner from noon to 7 p.m. It will be held at Manville Fire Co. No. 1, South Third Avenue, Manville. The menu includes kielbasa and sauerkraut, stuffed cabbage, pierogis, cabbage and noodles, soda, coffee and desserts. Tickets are $10 per person and are available at the door.    The Annual Election Day Turkey Dinner at Neshanic United Methodist Church, 301 Maple Ave., Neshanic Station, takes place at the church. Served family style. Serving: noon. Continuous servings from 5 to 7 p.m. Takeouts are available. Adults $12; Children under 12 years $7; and Seniors $10 at the noon seating only. Crafts and baked goods will also be sold.
Looking ahead
   "Getting Better with Age 2006" wine tasting tickets now on sale. The event will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Nov. 10 in Redwood Inn in Bridgewater. Tickets at $60 per person are available by calling 725-0068. All proceeds benefit Adult Day Center of Somerset County.
   A "Martial Arts for St. Jude" event benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will be held at Tae Kwon Do Elite 6-9 p.m. Nov. 10. The coordinator for this event is Master Arkadiy Nepomnishy, who encourages everyone to come and enjoy the festivities and support this worthy cause. The event will feature a kick-a-thon by the school’s students, with each participant pledging to do 200 or more kicks, while demonstrating proper kicking techniques. Self defense and board breaking demonstrations will also be highlights of the evening. Food and door prizes have been donated by local businesses. A donation of $5 at the door is suggested and will be appreciated.    A silent auction will be held Nov. 10 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, corner of Church and Franklin Streets, Bound Brook. Preview begins at 6:30 p.m. and the auction at 7:30. The $6 entry fee includes 25 tickets, a door prize ticket and refreshments. An additional sheet of tickets is $3, or four sheets for $10. There will also be a raffle.    Flip on over to Triangle Dance Center’s Cartwheel Clinic Nov. 11. Children ages 5-9 are invited to come learn the basics of a cartwheel or polish what they already know. The event is free and open to the public. Participants should wear dance or gymnastics attire and socks with hair pulled back in a ponytail or pigtails. No baggy clothes please.    The Hillsborough-Montgomery Welcomers Club (HMWC) invites new and returning members to Crocheting for Dummies (aka our ladies’ social) at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Nassau Tennis Club (2nd floor).    The Neshanic Garden Club will conduct a youth program for second and third graders at the Hillsborough Municipal Building. The children will create a floral centerpiece from 4 to 5 p.m. Nov. 15.    The regular meeting of the Neshanic Garden Club will be from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 16 at the Station House on Olive Street, Neshanic. Our program will be "Creating Seasonal Arrangements." Carmilla Shepley will share her knowledge and expertise by demonstrating arrangements that transcend Autumn into Winter.    The Somerset County Office of Volunteer Services is looking for volunteers for the Annual Fall Clean-up Program to take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 18. Volunteers are needed to rake leaves for elderly County homeowners, age 60 and older. All volunteers are then invited to lunch at the Office of Volunteer Services.
