The Delaware & Raritan Canal Watch will explore the historic D&R Canal and related sites south of Trenton by train on the River LINE light rail system on Saturday, Jan. 20.
The only cost is the $1.25 train fare.
Participants should meet at 10:45 a.m. at the Bordentown Light Rail Station, 100 W. Park Ave. at Prince Street above the boat landing, to board the 10:57 a.m. train for a five-minute ride to Roebling to view historic canal boat sites.
A northbound train will then take participants to Trenton, where an 11:45 a.m. train will be boarded for the return trip to Bordentown.
The tracks between Trenton and Bordentown follow the path of the main canal. Historic photos and aerial views will be available.
Following the train ride, participants may choose to enjoy a Dutch treat lunch at a popular local eatery, followed by a short architectural walking tour of 19th-century Bordentown.
