Dr. Hans Blix, the former Chief Weapons Inspector in Iraq and chairman of the International Commission on Weapons of Mass Destruction will give two talks in Princeton Sunday before the annual membership dinner of the Princeton-based Coalition for Peace Action and Monday at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School.
On Sunday evening, he will give the keynote address at the coalition gathering in McKay Campus Center of Princeton Theological Seminary. The building is off College Road near the intersection with Alexander Street and there is plenty of free parking nearby.
The Woodrow Wilson school lecture, entitled "Is It Time for a Revival of Disarmament?" will be 4:30 p.m. Monday in Dodds Auditorium, Robertson Hall, on the university campus. The talk is free and open to the public.
Dr. Blix was the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency from 1981 to 1997. In 2000 he was appointed head of the United Nations Monitoring, Verification, and Inspection Commission in Iraq. Since 2003 he has been chairman of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission based in Stockholm.
At its annual meeting, the coalition will also honor U.S. Rep. Rush Holt (D-12); Lawrence Hamm, chairman of the People’s Organization for Progress and convener of the People’s Peace Conference; the Rev. Al Krass, coordinator of the coalition’s four chapters in Bucks and eastern Montgomery counties in Pennsylvania and Patricia Radtke, chairwoman of the coalition’s Peace Education Committee.
The evening will begin with a sponsor reception at 5 p.m. followed by a catered dinner from 6 to 7 p.m.. The program is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m..
Cost of the dinner is $50 per person, $25 for limited income and $15 for program only. Sponsors, who are invited to attend the 5 p.m. reception and have a listing in the program are $125 per person.

Dr. Blix studied at the University of Uppsala, Columbia University and Cambridge University, where he received his doctorate. At Stockholm University, he earned a doctorate in law and served as professor of international law. In 1997, he was awarded the Gold Medal for distinguished service in the field of nuclear affairs by the Uranium Institute, the predecessor to the World Nuclear Association. He has written a number of books on international and constitutional law. The Coalition for Peace Action, based in Princeton since 1980, is the largest peace organization in the region, currently with over 7,000 members and supporting households and 16 chapter affiliates.
