Montas Cadet, 52, of Trenton

Driver

Grace Taxi No. 43

Princeton Junction train station

How did you get into this job?

I filled out an application at the station. I just talked to them and they just told me to come fill out an application at the township, and then I got the license.

What kind of training did you need?
If you don’t know where you’re going, they’ll give you the address or the telephone number. And then you call someone, and you go. You figure out where you’re going.

Describe a typical day in your job.
You never have a typical day. Sometimes, in the morning, we’ll have a job. In the afternoon, we’ll have a job. But sometimes, everything is down. You never know.

What do you enjoy most about job?

   Different people.
Mostly, there are children coming from school. Sometimes, Saturday and Sunday, you have students like that who visit their parents when they come in. That’s nice. And the workers. One day a customer coming from the train — you don’t know where he’s going — he’ll just tell you exactly where he’s going. That’s nice.

What do you enjoy least?

I don’t have anything that I don’t like about it, because that’s my job. Even when I don’t have (customers). We should be happy.

What is the key to success in your job?
Taking people from here to where they need. Sometimes you just pass the address. And then you come back — you’ll find it.
